Does ESXi 5.1 Update 1 Dell A01 build 1065491 (6/26/13) upgrade require pre-update removal steps?

I would like to update my ESXi 5.0.0 installation (Dell customized) with the latest Dell customized image found here released 6/26/13:

Does this release still require the pre-upgrade removal steps described here?

... and if those steps are required, why does VMWare recommend the extra step:

# esxcli software vib remove -n Dell-esx-boot-options

... but the Dell guy's blog does not?
